Call to Prayer From Russian Christian Youth

Annual Youth Day Prayer and Fasting

Global Participation Invited

We have received word from the Russian Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists (UECB) that their youth are nationally observing an annual day of prayer and fasting this weekend, as we observe Memorial Day here in the U.S. Their purpose is for the spiritual awakening of young generation of Russia. The intent is to motivate all youth and all churches to pray for their personal condition before God, and for the salvation of unbelievers. And for the first time, they are asking us—their North American brothers and sisters—to participate with them.

Below is an excerpt from the communiqué we received . . .

We invite you to join us in intercessory prayer this year! We believe that God hears the prayers of His children and desires to answer them. We pray because we long for spiritual awakening of Russia’s young generation, and for Christian youth to have their faith and zeal for the Lord rekindled with new fire.

How Can You Participate?

While we realize the notice is very short, and that our focus as Americans for this weekend is different in remembering those who have given the ultimate sacrifice while serving in our armed forces, we are thankful for their invitation to pray with them. We encourage you to do what is possible to intercede in prayer for Russian youth, and for the youth of our nation over this Memorial Day weekend. Russian youth pastors and senior pastors will be initiating a prayer meeting on Saturday, May 26th, or after the worship service on May 27th. There is also the option of leading a special worship service on May 27th.

Youth leaders are encouraged to initiate youth prayer meetings in whatever fashion possible. The Russian youth are planning: 1.) A night-long prayer meeting on Friday or Saturday, 2.) on Saturday, or 3.) on Sunday after the main worship service

Small group leaders are encouraged to meet together with the members of their small group at any convenient place and at any convenient time on Saturday, May 26th, or Sunday, May 27th, to pray. And lastly, if they are a child of God, they can participate on their own and pray with one or two brothers or sisters from their church at any convenient time on May 26th or 27th.

I am thrilled to pass this invitation on to you. It excites me to see Russian young people who are on fire to be faithful witnesses to Christ in their generation. Please pray with them this weekend for the salvation of Russia!

In His Love and Service,

Bob Provost

  1. 1 Bill said at 6:53 am on July 10th, 2012:

I am praying for a mlracie cure for my severe gum recession and for my three back teeth. If this is not God’s will, then at least halt the recession permanently, do not let the gums bleed or thin out, forever stop any more shifting and/or loosening and/or spacing of my teeth, let there be no tooth decay and no recurrence of the gum disease. (I had periodentitis.) As far as the back teeth are concerned, I fervently pray that the worst-case scenario with them is that they require refilling. One of these teeth is almost all filling with just this thin strip of real tooth on the side. I pray that if it is needed, my dentist is able to refill that tooth. I am begging God that I do not lose a single tooth and that my teeth do not get all funny looking and sticking out. I also am begging God it costs me nothing to not that much money in order for me to be able to keep all my teeth. Amen.
