Innercircle Perspective

. . . and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem” (Luke 24:46-47).

As you read this month’s newsletter, churches across the lands of Russia are making final preparations for their summer camp outreaches. Unchurched children will make new friends, have a ton of fun, eat well, and sleep little, but most of all . . . they will learn about their Heavenly Father who loves them so much that He gave His only begotten Son to save them from their sins. And it is your prayers and support that helps make all of this possible. Pray especially for God’s special protection of the camps being planned in nations that are predominantly Muslim.

Our recent trip to Israel took place during the annual Passover celebration when the entire country shuts down for several days.  Even the elevator in our hotel was placed on Sabbath Rest and remained an extra 30 seconds on each floor. While we were there, the annual Holocaust observance also took place. At 10 o’clock in the morning, sirens sounded throughout Israel, and the entire nation was silent for 2 minutes. I joined the other motorists and stood by my car, praying for the salvation of the surviving Holocaust victims and their families.

The influence of Slavic immigrants in Israel has been overwhelming.  Since modern Israel declared independence on May 14, 1948, most of their presidents and prime ministers have been immigrants from the lands of Russia. Even today, the second language in Israel is Russian, and 15 members of the Knesset (parliament) are of Russian origin. There are many congregations and home groups that worship in Russian, and new Bible training initiatives are being planned for the fall. Your prayers would be appreciated.

Please also remember SGA’s literature ministries in your prayers. Many important books need to be translated and printed. And when you have a specific need for prayer, please be quick to let us know. Your partnership in the Gospel is a great blessing from our Heavenly Father.
