Dangerous Tajikistan Conditions

Greetings in the name of our wonderful Savior, Lord, and King, Jesus Christ!

Today we received an e-mail from the UECB children's ministry coordinator in the Central Asian nation of Tajikistan. I have included a portion of it below:

We would like to ask for your prayer support for our country of Tajikistan. Perhaps you have heard that Tajikistan is in the middle of an energy crisis. Currently, our capital is only providing electricity for 10 hours in each 24-hour period.

Tajikistan was not prepared for such a bitter winter. The temperature at night has dropped to -15°F. Now, we do not have any water in many places. Everything is frozen.

Tragedy has struck. In the maternity hospitals, newborns are dying from the cold. We are praying that the Lord would send warmer weather and end this current crisis.

Please pray for the dangerous winter situation that has engulfed the people of that nation. And please pray for the Christians there; for their well-being and that the Lord would give them opportunities to reach out in His love to their suffering neighbors and co-workers.
