Evangelism in Russia’s First Nuclear City

img_8331.jpgWe continued on our trip today after praying for God’s blessings. We were about to enter Obninsk, the town where Russia’s first nuclear power reactor was built — a scientific city. As soon as we left the church house, we met two young cyclists who had attended our previous evangelization. They accompanied us the whole day, drawn by their observance of our loving Christian fellowship within the team.

img_3088.jpgEveryone was ready to communicate. When we arrived in the town, we had lunch and talked to the young cyclists about Christ. Team member Alexei Smirnov told them, “The road to nowhere leads exactly there.” He urged them to see the Lord as their most important goal in life, and to strive for Him. We prayed that God would bless our new friends and took a photo with them, after which the two boys returned to their native town of Kaluga. Our team then went out into Obninsk and began to give out invitations for the evangelistic meeting.

The Dangers of Alcohol

img_8329.jpgThe evangelization was held in front of the cinema, not far from the students’ dormitory. There were many people present, while others leaned out of their windows, looking at us from up above. Pastor Alexei Smirnov reminded the young people about the dangers of drinking and the negative impact it has on the brain. Victor, a brother with a hearing disability, answered people’s questions in one-on-one personal talks, as did the other members of the Expedition. Our puppet dog, Sharik, continued to do kind deeds, playing with kids and talking to parents.

We had a farewell dinner in the evening as the music group Inheritance left us. We were together four days and became very close friends! It was hard for us to keep our tears back!
