Scripture Distribution in Cheboksary
After some rest in Nizhniy Novgorod, our team headed for Cheboksary, capital of the Russian Republic of Chuvashia — a 250 km journey. On the way we stopped for rest and a snack, and while we were resting we had a pleasant meeting. A Christian man on his way home to Belarus saw our flags and cars with the Expedition logo, and stopped his truck. He was very happy to meet us. It was his third week on the road and he had not had any Christian fellowship for a while, and missed it greatly. He said with joy, “It is very pleasant to be together in prayer. I thank God for the outreach opportunities!” We gave him a poster with the route of the Expedition and asked him to pray for us.
Dedicated Youth Help Our Ministry
On our arrival at Cheboksary, we were met by local church youth who accompanied us into the city. Shortly before we entered the city, a young man fell and cut his chin. He felt very unhappy and we were very sorry about the accident. After our doctor provided him with first aid, local Christians took him to the hospital. We prayed for this young Christian brother, and praise God, he was able to take part in the evening evangelization after some minor outpatient surgery.
At the beginning of the program, a representative of the city’s administration addressed the audience. The praise and worship group Sinai ministered in music. Vladimir Skovpen spoke about leading a sound physical and spiritual lifestyle, while Levon, our medical doctor, spoke about the goals of the Expedition. Afterward, Sergei Sipko gave a Gospel presentation.
Young Christians helped us a lot with distribution of about 300 Gospels. Amazingly, the people continued to listen even after it began raining. We were still talking to people an hour after the meeting concluded.
