Champion Meets Champion in Kungur
The first hot summer days have begun and we are heading for the town of Kungur. Four police cars are following us. Kungur is a small town. The evangelization is planned for the central Sobornaya square. As we began our preparations we found out about another action planned there at the same time with ours — a sporting event called “Heavenly Marketplace.”
Young people from local sports clubs had scheduled this event, which was to promote a healthy way of life — very similar to what we have been saying minus the Gospel. They refused our offer to have a joint event. The town administration apologized for this misunderstanding and asked us to clear the stage.
While we couldn’t hold our program as planned, we gave out more than 100 copies of the New Testament. We had also an interesting meeting with a lady who is a three-time world champion in cycling, as well as the leader of the local cycling school. She came there with her students. Our own cycling champion, Vladimir Skovpen, signed Bibles and talked to the students, giving them Bibles as gifts. Then we met with local Christian brothers and sisters.
In the evening we went to the neighboring village of Plekhanovo, where we had an evangelistic meeting by the town administration office. There were men among current church members who used to be alcohol dependent in the past. They shared their testimonies with other unsaved men at the evening meeting. They shared spiritual Living Bread with them. It was a blessed meeting.
We thank you, dear brothers and sisters, for your prayers for the spread of the Gospel!
The second stage of the bike trip is reaching its finish and we ask you to pray in a special way for spiritual and physical state of the team.
Please, pray for Alexander as he needs to moisten his throat with water when he rides. Then the tempo of his wheeling remains stable. He needs to have a well-fastened bottle by his side, which now often falls on the road. We have to stop the car and fasten his canteen. We hope for quicker solution of this need. Thank you!
