A New Team Takes Over
We got up at 7:30 in the morning. We read the Bible and prayed for our forthcoming missionary ministries. We spoke about Peter who fished in the sea and could not manage to get his catch into the boat. He had to ask his friends to help him. It was good they were close.
The Expedition now has new participants who are devoted and called to the Gospel cause. Looking at the cyclists, I wonder at their endurance. There is only one professional cyclist among them. Our cyclists are heroes. They are heroes in the sporting world, and heroes of faith. Despite their weariness, they take an active part in evangelistic activities every day. They are reliable friends and sincere Christians.
Witnessing to Russian Media
Believers met us at the entrance to Chelyabinsk, which we expected. However, a TV cameramen and journalists from one of the local TV stations also met us. Finding out that we had copies of the New Testament with us, they asked us for some. We gave them the Bibles and they promised to read it daily.
The journalists interviewed us and discovered that we were an international team made up of Russians, Ukrainians, Ossetians, Armenians, a Kabardinian man, a German and a Belarussian. But all of us have double citizenship — Russian and Heavenly Jerusalem.
Representatives of the TV channel 31 were amazed at the fact that Vladimir Skovpen, the team leader, had 9 children and I have 6 kids, that we do not drink alcohol, and are indifferent to worldly values. We departed after an hour’s fellowship, telling them about the saving grace of God.
The worship service in the Chelyabinsk church began at 6:00 p.m. and lasted for about 2 hours. We spoke about the importance of outreach and examples of our life. We saw tears in the eyes of many people.
During a prayer, over 30 people asked the Lord to forgive them for indifference and sloth in Gospel preaching. Taking Christian books with them, people left for home.
We went to the UECB office for the Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions to stay there overnight. Tomorrow we will have to cover 280 kilometers, and we will meet up with Christians in Shumikha and Kurgan.
