More Children Hear the Gospel
Russia is a vast country with lots of natural resources. Yes we are rich, but in most cases we are poverty-stricken. There are lots of potholes on our roads. Only some parts of our highway system can be called “European-like.” Usually one notices the contrast between Russian and German roads, and living conditions. While thinking of this doesn’t depress me, I still feel sorry for our country.
Now on to more pleasant things. Our Expedition arrived at Zavodoukovsk, which has only one place of interest — an alcohol factory. The name of the town is derived from the Uk River. I learned this local citizens who attended the evangelistic meeting. Not many people responded to the invitation of the church, but we were not discouraged. The heavens rejoice even for one repenting sinner and perhaps that sinner attended the meeting. More kids than adults came and we decided to hold an evangelization for them.
The new team sent on the Expedition by the Russian Baptist Union’s Sunday school department worked excellently. The puppet program taught the children about the foundation of real friendship. The story about Jonah called children to obedience. The relay race taught kids to work as a team. With sincere joy and readiness, the kids took part in all the games. At the end of the program, all the children received prizes, candy and Christian children’s books. A music team from Vladikavkaz sang for the adults who were present.
The small Baptist church here in Zavodoukovsk extended real Christian hospitality, as did other local churches. But the Christians in Zavodoukovsk organized a special meal for us, combining breakfast, lunch and dinner. Next, we travel 200 km to the town of Ishim.
