Limited Ministry in Achinsk
All members of the bike trip were rather tired by now. At their last forces they conquered the bald peaks, speeding 10 km per hour. Leaving Mariinsk at 6:00 in the morning, our team arrived at Achinsk at 2:40 p.m. The history of Achinsk goes back to feudal times, when in 1683 the first prison-fortress was built on the bank of the Chulym River among the taiga forests. It defended the Russian border from Turkic invaders. The town of Achinsk continues to develop and preserve its ancient traditions.
According to elderly people in the town, Achinsk has changed drastically lately. There are many new industrial enterprises now, and the basis of building industry. The town has turned into a big railroad junction. Achinsk was united with the towns of Abakan and Lesosibirsk. The rapid economic development of the town has changed its social appearance. Previously empty parts of the territory are covered now with many residential areas. The Achinsk railway station appeared to be one of the most beautiful along the Trans-Siberian railway.
We did not have any public meetings in Achinsk as the request for the meeting was received by the city administration too late. We had a meeting with kids in the neighboring village. We pray that these children will remember our meeting with them, and that the sown seeds of the Gospel will bring forth good fruit in their souls.
