Dust in the Wind

23929887_izobrazhenie_162.jpgKuitun is a small village in the Irkutsk region. We arrived there at 10 sharp. We were not afraid of the lack of roads, having become accustomed to them. But today we encountered a new obstacle new fact for us — wind-driven dust. I advise you, who does not know about this phenomenon, to visit the Irkutsk region and cycle there, or walk the 190 km from Nizhnevartovsk to Kuitun. You will remember this experience forever! I have never seen such dust before. Our cyclists were ahead of the vehicle and were swallowed by clouds of dust. We followed them. Dust is everywhere. We need cleansing. Christians in Kuitun were waiting for us with lunch and a much-needed sauna.

450 People Hear the Gospel

23930121_izobrazhenie_409.jpgThe chuch in Kuitun had invited villagers during the previous two weeks. The meeting with the Expedition was planned for 7 p.m. in a local gymnasium. An hour ahead, there were 50 people waiting, and by the time the meeting started over 450 people.

The meeting lasted for 90 minutes. The villagers listened to the Good News with rapt attention. Very few people left the meeting early.

Many young people and children attended. While the main event was held for the adults, kids actively took part in the games and competitions our children’s missionaries offered them. We gave them pens and Christian magazines.

David Dzhioev, the coach of the local soccer team, appeared to come from the same place as we. He is Ossetian, but has been living here in Kuitun for 25 years. At the request of the locals, we had an impromptu soccer match at the central stadium. David’s students played against the Expedition team. We lost but with the close score of 2 to 1. It was another chance for us to share with the team about the sacrificial deed of Jesus Christ.

The Kuitun UECB church is a light and living letter of Christ in this region. Thank you so much, our dear ones! You succeeded to organize a real holiday for your villagers and for us, your guests.
