Off to Chita
The Expedition left the Republic of Buryatia and headed for the Chita region. It means yet another time zone from Moscow — one hour forward. The road is still full of steep climbs and downgrades as we travel through the Sayan Mountains. The cyclists get tired, but they overcome their weariness and, even after long distances, they continue to smile and rejoice at the results of their ministry. Once during our trip we came up on a big herd of cows. Only the skillful actions of the cowboy helped us to resume our way very quickly.
We will remember this part of the way because of all the flat tires on our bicycles. We had to stop eight times to put on new wheels. It provided the cyclists with some rest, and helped us to cover a difficult part of the road.
Petrovsk-Zabaikalsky is an ancient town, well known because of the Decembrists who were sent there to exile. Many houses in the town date from that period. A few years ago, Resurrection Church began to have worship services in one of these houses. We took part in the worship service held there with members of the Expedition. Besides the church members, new people came there for the first time. A correspondent of the local newspaper came there to make a short report about the Expedition, but stayed for the entire service.
Levon Sarkisov shared his testimony of how God called him to serve as an evangelist. At first, he planned to be with the Expedition as a doctor. But when he joined the Expedition he became a driver, and then began to cycle along with the other bikers. He also witnesses, sharing his faith with anyone who will listen. And he always talks to people who come to the evangelistic services.
