Evangelistic Service Exceeds Expectations

It had been a long day, but there was one more meeting yet. The Russian Christian music group Blagovestie pulled into the town of Mozdok. The plan was to have a concert with a Gospel message for the people of the city, in support of the evangelistic ministry of the local Baptist church.

But there was a snag — on their arrival at the community center, the director met them before they could set up. They would have better results, he said, if they would choose a smaller hall. "Religious music is not very popular in Mozdok," he told them. The group wasn't sure what to do, so they prayed. Feeling that the Holy Spirit had prepared many hearts in Mozdok for the Gospel, they pressed for the larger hall — 700 seats.

Boris Berezhnoi, the lead singer for Blagovestie, writes: "Praise God, the hall was full! The work of the Holy Spirit was obvious to everyone! ... The Lord performed a miracle there — over 50 people came forward in repentance!"

In many places in Russia, such concerts will draw quite a crowd. Blagovestie has seen, through many years of ministry, people attending evangelistic outreaches in great numbers. Some are only looking for free entertainment — but many are invited by their Christian friends or are curious after meeting believers in their community. But all who come receive what the Lord has for them — an opportunity for their lives to be transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
