Ministry Report 2007: God’s Continued Blessing on the Antioch Initiative
This past year, the SGA-sponsored Antioch Initiative reached new, exciting milestones and continued to grow across Russia. There are now 20 active North American coalitions of churches operating in partnership with developing Antioch churches in Russia.
There were many notable highlights throughout the year, beginning with the first visit by the New Mexico Coalition to their Antioch partner church in Belgorod, followed by the first visit of the Florida Coalition to Chita. Four North American Youth Camp teams visited Antioch churches in St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Tambov and Ufa. In addition, the Northern Illinois Coalition sponsored a Business Venture Exploration visit to Ryazan, while the Kansas/Indiana Coalition sponsored a Dental Team visit to Tomsk. Most importantly, a total of 28 pastors’ training sessions were held at the various developing Antioch churches in Russia.
The year concluded with the wonderful Antioch Conference sponsored by SGA and held at the First Evangelical Free Church in Rockford, Illinois. More than 50 North American pastors represented their Antioch coalitions at this strategically important conference, along with Pastor Yuri Sipko and Pastor Ruvim Voloshin, who represented the twenty developing Antioch churches in Russia.
It was truly thrilling to see the warm partnerships between the North American churches and their Russian brothers and sisters continue to grow and strengthen. Most exciting of all was to hear the testimonies of how the pastors’ congregations across North America are getting more and more excited about the Gospel work in Russia, as evidenced by the creativity, even of children’s groups in raising funds to support the Antioch Initiative.
