Ministry Report 2007: Church Construction
In partnership with International Cooperating Ministries (ICM), SGA continued its assistance to the construction and/or remodeling of churches and houses of prayer.
In Russia, 19 projects were funded in 14 regions of the country, with some regions having multiple projects in progress. In Belarus, we assisted 10 projects, and seven in Ukraine.
In the Russian culture, it is very important for a church to have its own building, as groups not having such a structure are viewed with suspicion and are frequently labeled as cults or sects.
Along with house of prayer construction, key projects included the construction of a sports ministry center for the church in Kirovo-Chepetsk, Russia. The church in Mogilev, Belarus also received assistance in constructing rooms for youth ministry, while the church in Irkutsk, Russia, received help with heating.
