Ministry Report 2007: Faithful Church Planters Continue Their Dedicated Ministry

Church Planters

In spite of financial hardships, persecution, and housing challenges, 419 church-planting missionary-evangelists and their families sponsored by SGA are faithfully carrying on their ministry of preaching the Gospel and planting new churches. In 2007, SGA-sponsored church planters labored in the countries of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Albania.

As restrictions continue to tighten on evangelical ministries, our greatest need is for more sponsors to help support the many under-supported church planters and to enable more faithful men to be sent out. In Belarus, the restrictions on Bible-preaching churches are severe, but Piotr Podrez, director of SGA’s Minsk Regional Ministry Center, has the opportunity to regularly assist our church planters in their ministries and to observe how they are undeterred by opposition.

No one can stop missionary ministry commanded by the Lord until He returns. There are restrictions and oppressions, but despite this, our brothers and sisters keep on proclaiming the Gospel with joy. Of course there are difficulties, but they only encourage us to pray more. God accomplishes His work anyway!

In Russia alone, there are 185 church planter-evangelists sponsored by SGA. Additionally, there are 143 in Ukraine, 60 in Belarus, 20 in Kazakhstan, six in Uzbekistan, two in Tajikistan, and one each in Albania, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
