Editor’s Note: Eric Mock, Senior VP of Ministry Operations, shares the following trip report from Armenia.

I recently had the great privilege of traveling to Armenia to attend a conference for pastors supported by SGA. These faithful men serve tirelessly across a region marked by deep trials and ongoing hardship. Many labor in remote or impoverished villages, where war, displacement, and economic uncertainty have left lasting scars.

Yet what struck me most wasn’t their struggle—it was their steadfast joy.

These pastors, many of whom have endured more than most of us could imagine, joined together in worship, encouragement, and thanksgiving. And again and again, they praised God for you—for those who pray, give, and stand with them in the work of the Gospel.

A Father’s Faith and a Daughter’s Smile

While there, I met Pastor Volodya, a humble man with a strong spirit and an even stronger faith. His young daughter Lucy was born prematurely—just seven months into the pregnancy—and with hydrocephalus. Doctors told the family she would only survive a few days. But by God’s mercy, Lucy is still with us today—now two years old.

Despite the daily challenges they face, Volodya and his wife remain living testimonies of God’s sustaining grace. They do not ask for ease or comfort—but for prayer. And today, I ask you to join me in lifting up little Lucy and her family.

A Word for Us All

As I reflect on Lucy’s life and the ministry of these faithful pastors, I’m reminded of this simple truth: none of us knows what tomorrow will bring. We are not guaranteed a long life, health, or comfort. But each day we receive—each smile, especially from a child—is a gift from our Heavenly Father.

So today, let Lucy’s smile remind you of God’s kindness. And let it turn your heart toward praise.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me,
bless His holy name.
Bless the
Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

— Psalm 103:1–5

Thank you for standing with us, for caring about the people of Armenia, and for holding up the arms of those who serve faithfully in the most difficult places. May we all continue to be found faithful.
