This message came to us from a dear and faithful servant in war-torn Ukraine. Artem is an SGA-supported missionary pastor who, under great difficulty, ministers to people with little or no hope.

Embedded in what he shares is something special—a prayer for you. At first glance, this might seem strange. We don’t feel the war and suffering the way Artem and his church do, and yet the human condition is the same. Our circumstances are different, but we all face pain, loss, and difficulty in our lives.

Here is what Artem shared with us.

We’re so glad that you’re praying, serving Christ, and supporting us! We’re under constant shelling right now. But thank God, we’re holding on. One of our sisters broke her hip, and we were able to help her with her recovery. We were also able to visit a member of our church—we gave him a car and a generator, praying with his brothers and sharing the Good News with them.

One of our church members has struggled with addiction for a very long time. We prayed with him for a long time that he would go through rehabilitation at a Christian center. Three weeks ago, he finally agreed. But last week, he suffered an unimaginable loss within his own family. Right now, I’m with him around the clock. Please pray for us!

I was also able to serve a little bit yesterday at a camp with some young people. It reminded me of my own childhood at Christian camps. I called on the teenagers to repent, and it’s wonderful to see them beginning their journey with Christ. Our journey there was a bit dangerous, but God guided us through it!

Artem’s words are a picture of what SGA-supported missionary pastors carry every day in Ukraine—grief and grace intertwined, danger and faithfulness side by side. But in the middle of it all, Artem still thinks to ask about us, and to pray for you.
