The body of Christ continues to serve Ukrainians in need! As we see below in a ministry report from SGA-supported Pastor Vasil, Romans 12:11b-12 is being lived out as the church continues to be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.
This outpouring of Christ’s love continues in a region where attacks during the war have not relented. May we lift up these brothers and sisters in the faith today and ask the Lord to empower them with courage, strength and His grace under fire.
Dear friends in Jesus!
We thank God in our prayers for you and your support in this difficult time for our country! We continue to serve before the Lord for the people in our region.
Our youth team held a camp for 50 children from the occupied territories. The children heard the Word of God and they received gifts and treats. Also, the church held two camps for children from low-income families in the Odessa region and for the IDP [internally displaced persons] families. These camps were attended by 70 children and their parents attended the services at the same time. The church youth had the opportunity to serve children in a nearby village, telling them about Christ. Thirty children received wonderful gifts.
Our church takes care of families who were left without breadwinners during the war, providing them with food packages and all the necessary things for everyday life. We delivered and distributed food to the liberated territories of Mykolaiv and Kherson often. We meet with the people, serving them in any possible way. Our church team also provided support and humanitarian aid to many people who suffered from the explosion at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
A baptism was held in our church recently. One of the IDPs from Kherson joined our Christian family. We thank God for the salvation for this family! Parents and children actively attend our Sunday services after they hear the Word of God. At the end of September, we plan to hold a meeting and provide humanitarian aid to about 300 families living in three nearby villages.
Dear SGA workers, dear supporters! God has been blessing our churches and our people through your sacrificial ministry! May He reward you a hundredfold for your contribution in serving our country, our much-suffering people!
With prayers,
Vasil, Pastor of the Odessa Second Baptist Church
