Editor’s Note: An SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine shares the following report and testimonies.

In the heart of war-torn Ukraine, Pastor Valentin is witnessing God at work in powerful ways. Thanks to the generosity and prayer support of friends like you, his church has distributed 1,000 food and hygiene bags to families devastated by the ongoing conflict—large families, displaced refugees, and those who have suffered directly from military strikes.

Each bag carries not just food, but the hope of Christ. “Every week, about 20 new visitors join us for worship for the very first time,” Valentin shares. “These are the first fruits of our humanitarian efforts, and it is truly a blessing. Praise God!”

Among those receiving help is Bohdana, a 16-year-old girl with disabilities. Her mother passed away earlier this year, leaving her father, Petro, to care for her alone. The church has provided food, hygiene items, and spiritual encouragement. “We prayed together,” Valentin says. “Petro said he wants to come to church and promised he will.”

The church is also ministering to Ira, a mother of two and former soldier who served over two years on the battlefield. Ira was injured and sustained several concussions. It has been difficult to raise her children alone while her husband serves on the front lines. But she continues to find support, prayer, and friendship through the church community.

And then there is Ilya, just 11 years old. His father died several years ago, and he and his mother struggle to afford even the basics. The church makes sure he never leaves hungry. “Recently, he came and asked for food for his family,” Valentin remembers. “We were happy to help and will continue supporting them in the future.”

Attendance at the church has grown so much that they have added extra chairs—now seating more than 400 people every Sunday. In a time of fear and hardship, this congregation is proving that the light of Christ still shines brightly.
