Editor’s Note: An SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine provides the following story.

In a devastated Ukrainian village near the front lines of war, one elderly widow lives completely alone. War has stripped her community of stability, and she has no family nearby to visit her or care for her needs. Yet, by God’s grace, she has not been forgotten.

This winter, as freezing temperatures set in and reliable heat remains scarce, a local SGA-supported church stepped in to help. Thanks to the generosity of friends like you, believers provided heating pellets for her stove—a critical lifeline during Ukraine’s bitter winter months. But they didn’t stop there. The pastor also visited her home, bringing prayer, encouragement, and the comforting truth of God’s Word.

For this widow, the warmth she received was more than physical. It was a powerful reminder that God sees her and cares for her, even in isolation and hardship. Her gratitude—and the church’s—is shared with believers like you who make this ministry possible.

Stories like hers are unfolding across Ukraine and throughout other regions facing extreme winter conditions. Homes often lack reliable heat. Elderly neighbors struggle to afford fuel. Power outages leave families vulnerable for hours or even days at a time. Yet in the midst of these hardships, God is at work through faithful believers who refuse to turn away from suffering.
