Editor’s Note: An SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine provides the following report.

Even in the midst of war, God continues to work powerfully through His people. Across Ukraine, SGA-supported churches remain steadfast—caring for those in need while faithfully proclaiming the hope of the Gospel. This past Easter, one such church was able to reach hundreds with both practical help and the message of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection.

What follows is a report shared directly from Pastor Valentin. As you read, you will see how God is at work through the church and how your partnership helps make ministry like this possible.

Greetings!

I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your generous support and the partnership we are blessed to share with you. Thank you for your donation toward our outreach ministry.

Through your support, we were able to share the Gospel with 500 people on Easter Eve. We are deeply grateful for this opportunity. We invited and registered individuals in need, including refugees from eastern Ukraine, large families, widows, orphans, and other families facing difficult circumstances.

We prepared and distributed food bags containing groceries, canned meat, sunflower oil, and hygiene supplies. Before receiving the food packages, guests were invited to a time of fellowship where we shared the message of God’s sacrifice, salvation, and the true meaning of Easter.

During the message, the pastor used a simple illustration with scales to demonstrate God’s justice and how Christ removes the weight of our sin through His sacrifice on the cross, so that we may be justified. After the fellowship, each family received a food bag.

Nina and Valentina —two elderly women, both widows, who came to our church during the recent food distribution. Nina’s husband passed away just recently, and she is still deep in grief. Both of them live on just $120 a month from their small pensions, and so much of that goes toward medication. Nina told us that she often falls ill and needs constant treatment, and this makes it nearly impossible for her to get by. She lives close to the church and said she will come back often, as this aid will help her make it through the next few weeks. They both told us, with tears in their eyes, how much they appreciate the kindness of those who donated. This support is a lifeline for them, and they say that these gifts mean a lot for them.

Yulia and Lora are two women who came to our church for the first time during the distribution. They were filled with hope, as they received food bags that meant so much to them. Yulia, who has four children, shared with us that she and her family had to flee from the eastern part of Ukraine as refugees. They arrived here with almost nothing. Yulia told us that when she went to the social services for support, they offered her just $10 a month which is impossible to live and survive on.She was so grateful for the food we gave them, and she told us that she now cares for a chicken, waiting for it to bring eggs this spring—this is how she hopes to sustain her family. Lora is a mother of five. Her three sons are on the front line, and every day she lives with the fear of their safety. Despite all this, both women said they felt a spark of hope, and they are so thankful for support. This help is keeping them going in this difficult season.

Slavic is a devoted husband, a father, and a courageous soldier who fought for his country. During his service, he was struck by a piece of artillery, piercing his bulletproof vest and leaving him unable to walk. By a miracle, he survived. Today, though he moves with a wheelchair, he has found strength in faith. He came to our church for the first time, seeking hope and support for his family, and through the humanitarian aid we provided, he felt God’s love in a tangible way. Before receiving the food, we shared Scripture with him, and he expressed deep gratitude, saying he wants to come back and join our veterans’ fellowship.

Thank you once more. Your support is making a real difference in the lives of many people during this difficult time.

With gratitude and blessings,
Pastor Valentin

This report is a powerful reminder that even in hardship, the Lord is drawing people to Himself. Through simple acts—like a bag of groceries—God opens doors for His Word to be shared and for lives to be changed. Please pray for Pastor Valentin, for the church he serves, and for those who heard the Gospel this past Easter—that the seeds planted would bear lasting fruit.
