Editor’s Note: An SGA Storyteller in Moldova shares the following testimony.

It is easy in this life to feel tossed about by the storms that seem to overwhelm us. It seems that everywhere we turn, there is another wave ready to splash down hard upon us. However, when we can throw down an anchor, we are held in one place

That one place for believers is an anchor of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. No matter how difficult circumstances are around us, we can stay our hearts in the comfort and peace of God. It is there where we find the strength to continue on. Our resilience and steadfastness are not our own, but in this “anchor of faith” that holds us—an anchor from God.

Please pray for the winter months, as many are facing harsh days and bitter cold nights. Pray that warmth can be provided to many through the SGA-supported Heat and Hope ministry and the anchor of hope we have in Jesus.

From SGA Storyteller Tatiana in Moldova . . .

Elena, who is 53 years old, lives in a village of the Strășeni district. She is a modest, quiet, and hardworking woman, known by her neighbors for her kindness and patience. Although life has not been easy for her, Elena has learned to move forward with faith and hope in God. Divorced many years ago, she raised her child on her own, and today they live together, supporting each other through the daily difficulties they face.

At present, Elena is unable to work due to serious health problems. She has suffered from asthma since she was young, a condition that makes breathing difficult, especially during the cold season. Recently, she underwent surgery for an abdominal hernia, a difficult intervention that weakened her body and requires a slow recovery. Because of this, many days are marked by exhaustion, pain, and physical weakness.

Elena is a woman of deep faith. Every morning, she begins her day with prayer, finding in her relationship with God the strength to keep going. Her faith is her strongest support—a true anchor in the midst of hardship.

Her material conditions are modest. She heats her home with firewood, which is a great struggle for someone with respiratory issues. During winter, the costs for heating and energy become overwhelming, and Elena often finds herself having to carefully consider every expense in order to make it through the cold season. Even so, she does everything she can to keep her home warm and welcoming for her child.

Those who know her say that Elena is a quiet, yet remarkably strong woman. Despite her pain and limitations, she manages to keep a gentle smile and offer encouragement to others. She is a person with a big heart, generous and dignified. We want to express our gratitude to Slavic Gospel Association for supporting people like Elena and many other vulnerable families in the Republic of Moldova. Their help brings hope where it is most needed.
