Some of the most valuable conversations take place because of the compassionate heart of a pastor who is willing to knock on a door and offer food to the person who opens it.
Through SGA supported Compassion Ministry, many men and women in need are receiving food packs. These packages hold necessary grocery items to allow a family to prepare nutritious meals. At the same time, these families receive nutrition for their hearts as the Gospel message is shared with each visit.
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth (1 John 3:18).
Please continue to pray for the faithful pastors who show the love of Christ through their actions, and in His truth. Pray for Lena, who you will read about in the story below. Also pray for the many who hear of God’s salvation through His Son.
Here is more from Alexander’s ministry report . . .
“The story of Grandmother Lena is the story of a woman in difficult circumstances. Why? It’s hard to trace the origins of the problem. Lena she is a “grandmother” only in appearance. She’s about my age, and after I told her this, she opened up. She’s childless and has lived her whole life alone. She worked as an accountant, but at some point in her life she broke down and began to drink heavily.
Lena’s a sensible person. She laments her ruined life.
After listening to her carefully, I told her the stories of those women who, like her, were on the edge of the abyss, but turned to Christ and were able to overcome the addictions that were destroying their lives. I told her about the salvation of people who have put their trust in God, who sent the Savior into the world. The Savior, Jesus Christ, gave His life for people like her, so that by turning to Jesus, a person could overcome sin and the problems that come with sin.
It was amazing to see how Lena’s face changed; a face which usually was emotionless. It was filled with the light of hope when she said, “Maybe this is possible for me too!” I offered to pray with her, to which she gladly agreed. I prayed and I’m sure the Lord heard my prayer for her! I hope this is not our last prayer together, because Lena promised to attend worship services. She took a Bible and promised to read it, hoping that this book could open the way to salvation.
Lena thanked me for a long time for the food, for the fellowship, and for the prayers. I told her that there was no credit to me. All this is done by Jesus Christ, who opens the hearts of those who are happy to serve such destitute, needy people. Pray for the salvation of Lena’s soul!
