Even in the bitter cold of winter, SGA-supported missionary pastors in Ukraine continue to carry both physical help and eternal hope to those suffering in war-stricken communities.
Recently, SGA-supported missionary Pastor Dima traveled with his team to a frontline region in Ukraine to minister to struggling families and elderly residents. The needs were urgent. The temperatures were low. But the love of Christ was evident.
“Today we were in the district, ministering to people in the village,” Dima shared. “We brought people groceries, bread, medicine, hygiene products, and diapers for the disabled. It’s very cold now, but we were able to hold a service and distribute aid. We also visited some elderly people at home.”
In communities devastated by missile attacks and ongoing hardship, many elderly residents are isolated and vulnerable. Families struggle to secure basic necessities. Yet through Ukraine Relief made possible through the generous support of friends like you, SGA-supported churches are stepping forward—providing bags of groceries, hygiene items, and medicine while also sharing the hope of the Gospel.
The aid itself is not the answer. But God uses these simple provisions to open doors for ministry. A bag of groceries becomes an opportunity for prayer. A visit to a lonely pensioner becomes a moment to read Scripture and remind them they are not forgotten. A small gathering in the cold becomes a worship service where fearful hearts are strengthened by God’s Word.
Even in freezing temperatures, Dima and his team were able to hold a service—encouraging believers and sharing Christ with those who came seeking help. They also made personal home visits to elderly residents unable to travel.
This is what ministry looks like in Ukraine today. And through your prayers and generous support, churches can continue reaching the hurting—meeting urgent physical needs while pointing people to the eternal hope found only in Christ.
