My role at SGA includes frequent travel overseas to many former Soviet countries, as well as to Israel. In these visits, it never ceases to amaze me how much the Lord has blessed Slavic Gospel Association in allowing us to be part of what He is doing through the faithful churches we have served for more than 90 years. Our brothers and sisters overseas are faithfully carrying out their ministries each day, and are wonderful models of tireless, dedicated Christian service. It is humbling to see them in action, and to see the deep love they have for their people—a love which above all wants to see people come to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospel is paramount in all that they do.
As you will read in this issue of the Good News Report, and indeed every issue, their ministries are varied. The geographic territory that must be covered is vast, and the ministry conditions on the ground differ greatly depending on where they are. In Russia alone, there are 11 time zones and an incredible number of different people groups—through the years the estimates have ranged between 130 and 190. The climate can be a huge challenge. I have been in the Yakutsk region in Russia’s Far East in winter, and trust me, ministry in -50 below zero Fahrenheit weather is no picnic!
Different cultures, different local languages, and differing attitudes toward evangelical churches make ministry there very challenging. Yet our brothers and sisters know their calling from the Lord, and they are intent on carrying it out—being faithful witnesses of the Gospel whenever He grants them opportunity. It is such a privilege to serve them together with you. Please do continue to intercede in prayer for them, and for us at SGA!
Grace,

Eric Mock
