Editor’s Note: An SGA Storyteller in Ukraine shares the following testimony.

Do you ever wonder if God hears your prayers? Or why He isn’t answering them if He does hear them? Many people throughout Ukraine are struggling to remain strong as the tragedy of war continues. Many hearts are tired and confused.

However, Christian men and women are still wearily clinging to the truth that they have trusted in days past. Please pray for strength for Ukraine, both physical and spiritual. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know Who holds the future.

SGA Storyteller Angela shares her testimony . . .

Here is a reflection of my first week back in Ukraine, after returning from America…

What it means to live in Ukraine in March, 2025:
(*three years after the full-scale invasion and more than ten since the start of war in Ukraine)

It means checking the phone, a lot. There, you’ll get text messages about the air raid alarms if you’re far from them and information about which direction the rockets or drones are flying.

It means running with your baby into the safest room of the house when one of the explosions wakes her up. At least there are no windows there…

It means lying on the hospital bed, getting treated for health issues with an IV in your vein–and the air raid alarm sounds. You can’t help thinking how close the windows are and how ironic it would be if the drone attacked while you were getting treatment to live a while longer…

It means that every conversation, either lunch or dinner with other believers, will always intertwine with the latest news from the front line–no matter how far your city is from it.

It means that church services often start from acknowledging who suffered and died throughout the week.

It means seeing wounded soldiers everywhere, in the grocery stores, train stations, shopping malls.

It means being: Tired. Weary. Overwhelmed. Sometimes hopeless?

It means sometimes wondering if you should keep praying the way you have been praying. Is God listening?

It means relying more on God’s help and protection—seeking, waiting, longing, hoping.

It means making every effort to keep believing, reminding yourself of biblical truth, and moving forward, one day at a time…”
