We recently received these images from Kherson, which is facing life-threatening flooding after the Nova Kakhovka dam was destroyed in the ongoing war. City buses from Zaporozhe are enroute to evacuate as many people as possible. Houses are being swept away or water is up to the roof line in many locations.
During the previous occupation (before the current war), most of the civil infrastructure was destroyed—so there really is no other option than to abandon these homes. Disease is expected to follow as the water pools and reveals many animals that died in the flood. The water will be undrinkable.
Please pray for the people who remain and have been unable to leave, and pray for God’s provision and guidance to prepare for the urgent humanitarian needs that will follow.
