Editor’s Note: An SGA Storyteller in Moldova provides the following story.

We never know how time away at a Christian summer camp will impact the lives of children. However, we do know that while there, children are loved and cared for deeply, and they walk away having heard the words of the Gospel. SGA-supported Summer Bible Camp leaders take their ministry to heart.

This is not only a week of fun and activity for the children. Instead, it is a time to show them something different—a life lived with the family of God. Many of these children do not know what a loving family looks like. The goal is to have the children hear the Gospel, and to be shown the love of Christ through the hearts and actions of the leaders. As the leaders are preparing for the Summer Bible Camps that will begin soon, please pray not only for the details to come together smoothly, but also for the preparation of the hearts for all who will attend.

From Tatiana, an SGA Storyteller in Moldova:

The Bible says in Galatians 6:9. . .  Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. This verse reflects the lives of many faithful believers who serve quietly and faithfully every day. One of these people is Svetlana, whose life is a living example of dedication, faith, and God’s continuous work.

Svetlana is 35 years old and was born in a Christian family. From the age of 10, she started going to church together with her mother. At the age of 15, she came to faith in the Lord Jesus during a Christian summer camp. That moment changed her life, and from then on, she began serving alongside other leaders in the camps.

Throughout her youth, she served the Lord faithfully. Later, she got married, and together with her husband, they became involved in church volunteer activities. God blessed them with three children, and during their early years, she dedicated herself to serving within her family. For the past two years, she has returned to more active ministry in the church.

In daily life, she has seen many times how God provides solutions. There were moments when she felt stuck while raising her children, with no way out. But after prayer, God would send help—one person, then another, then a solution—and step by step, things would be resolved. Svetlana says that when her children are sick, she feels God’s power in a much deeper way.

Christian camps have always had a special place in her heart. There, she sees how God changes lives. Children come with different struggles, sometimes with difficult behavior. At first, leaders may feel afraid to have such children in their group, but later they understand that these children need the most love. They are not difficult because they had an easy life, but because of pain and the lack of good examples. When leaders show love, acceptance, and care, God works in both the hearts of the children and the leaders.

Svetlana’s motivation to serve in camps comes from her own experience. She knows how important it is for God’s Word to be planted in children’s hearts from a young age. She sees this as a great opportunity to influence their lives. Even if some children do not continue to attend church, the biblical truths remain in their hearts for life.

Svetlana is one of hundreds of Christian volunteers in Moldova who, together with her husband, serves with dedication and sacrifice in the work of the Gospel. Many times, they are so busy serving that they do not have time to look back and see how much God has done through them. After hearing such testimonies, people are often amazed and encouraged. These servants are very precious in God’s eyes and in the eyes of people—people who sacrifice their comfort for the good of others.
