Editor’s Note: The report, images, and testimony below were provided by an SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine.

Sometimes we may wonder why God has allowed so much suffering during the war in Ukraine. What good can come in the midst of the bombing, shelling, and hostile attacks? As you read the story of Natalia’s family as shared by SGA-supported Pastor Volodymyr below, be reminded that God’s mighty hand is at work in hurting hearts.

“Natalia repented and praises the Lord that despite the difficult life circumstances she had gone through, God knocked on her heart,” Volodymyr says. “This is the best thing that has happened to her in her life, she says! Praise God!” Read more from Volodymyr . . .

Peace be with you!

Please accept my sincere greetings from [our church]. Our church is also serving in two other villages. We are sincerely grateful for the help you provide to people in need. Today is a difficult time for our whole country. The war has taken away human lives, homes, houses of prayer and many other values. People are forced to flee to other areas to save their lives. Thanks to sponsors like you, who do not stand aside, many needy people thank God for the help you bless them with!

Our church is sincerely grateful to you for these food packages. We were able to visit low-income families, as well as IDPs [internally displaced persons] and families who lost loved ones at the war zone. People express their sincere gratitude to you for the mercy God has shown them through your kind hearts! May the Lord bless you and your hard work for the glory of God and reward you a hundredfold!

Sincerely,
Pastor Volodymyr

God Knocked On Her Heart 9

Testimony of Natalia’s family

This IDP family now lives in the village [in our] region. The husband’s name Yaroslav, the wife is Natalia, and the boys are Marian and Dmytro.

The story of this woman is quite interesting: a long time ago, newborn Natalia was found by nuns in cloth diapers near a trash can. So, all her life she spent in orphanages and to this day this woman does not know who her parents are. Later she got married and has two children. They lived very poorly.

When the war broke out, the family was left in very difficult circumstances. When they moved here from the eastern part of Ukraine, our church started supporting this family, helping them as much as we could.

God Knocked On Her Heart 8

Also with God’s help, we bought a small wooden house for them, where they live now and thank God for His care. They also receive food aid from the SGA and are grateful for such a wonderful gift for their family. The whole family began to come to the Sunday worship services, and the children come to Sunday school. Natalia repented and praises the Lord that despite the difficult life circumstances she had gone through, God knocked on her heart. This is the best thing that has happened to her in her life, she says! Praise God!
