Editor’s Note: The testimony and images below were sent by an SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine.

Please pause and read about what one displaced Ukrainian woman has faced in her testimony below. Then consider how vital it is that we serve the SGA-supported churches in Ukraine that minister hurting people like her. For most of us, we can only imagine the suffering that she and others are facing every day. Do not let this reality drift to far from your prayers and thoughts. May God advance His church in such times and days.

We are from Avdiivka. This city in the Donetsk region has been under constant shelling since 2014. It is the hottest spot today. How can you survive all that horror? I survived terrible times. We lived in the gray zone, where we were constantly under fire and explosions. My husband and brother were killed there. My cousin’s husband was also killed by shelling. We have no more relatives. We are the only ones left with her and also my sick daughter.

My house was shelled by rockets five times. Everything was destroyed and looted. There is nothing there! There are 1600 people left in the city. People are living in basements because the invaders dropped a bomb on the coke plant and people are hiding in basements. The good part is that sometimes volunteers bring them food. We stay here in [this region], and we have nowhere to go. Why do we have to go through this? How can we endure such suffering? Thank you for the church here that takes care of us, thank you for your food support, for your prayers!

In a time of great uncertainty, God is bringing help, healing, and hope to the people of Ukraine through SGA-supported pastors, churches, a seminary, and SGA-supported Compassion Ministry. Be a part of God’s incredible work with your generosity and prayer support.

Your gift of compassion helps struggling people with emergency aid that generally includes Scripture materials, food, medicine, warm clothing, and shoes.
