How God Transforms People

Complete transformation, both inside and out! In the story below, you will read about Denis who was not only changed on the inside as he repented and began to follow Christ, but it was also very important to him to show himself on the outside—as a follower of Christ.

Cutting your hair and changing the colors of your clothing may seem simple to some of us, but for Denis it was a metamorphosis. He no longer wanted to portray darkness, but instead the light of the Gospel in his heart! Please continue to pray for the faithful pastors who commit their lives to sharing the Gospel. “Three of them turned to the Lord through our outreach and as a result of our hard work and many meetings with them,” SGA-supported Pastor Yuri shares in his report. My dear friends, I would like to express my deep gratitude for your sincere love and care. You are always there, ready to support and help us in difficult moments. Your devotion and constancy in serving the Lord inspire us tremendously. We constantly thank God for sending us such devoted friends as you. Your faithfulness and dedication, especially in these difficult times, are of great value to us. Your support in our mission of preaching the Gospel in Belarus is an incredible blessing to us. We realize that words cannot express all of our gratitude, but we are constantly praying for you and your loved ones, blessing you and wishing you all the best. We believe that the Lord will reward you for your faithfulness and service to Him. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and for all that you do for us in the service to our Lord.

A special joy in this period for us was the baptism we had at the beginning of June . . . three of them turned to the Lord through our outreach and as a result of our hard work and many meetings with them. But it was worth it! God really restored these people to a new life. I’ll tell you about one of them below.

Denis was baptized. My children had met him when he was a “Goth”, being a member of a particular dark youth subculture. He wore all black, and often talked about suicide. But something about Christians appealed to him, and he accepted an invitation to go to a home Bible study group. At first, he argued, then he asked questions, then he listened, soaking up the Gospel like a sponge.

In January, at a youth meeting, he repented and has been preparing to be baptized ever since. His life was changed, suicidal thoughts passed away, and he began to experience the joy and pleasure of communion with believers in the church. Before he was baptized, he came to me asking about his clothes. He said his clothes were all black and he did not have a single white thing. He hadn’t had time to change his closet, but he really wanted to look different as well. We helped him with his clothes, and he also cut his long hair and became a completely different person both internally and externally. We rejoiced watching Denis, and how God transforms people!
