Editor’s Note: An SGA Storyteller in Moldova provides the following testimony.

“Behind the scenes” ministry is often seen as more valuable, especially during SGA-supported Summer Bible Camps. In a world full of noise, the camp is a place of peace, truth, and hope. These camps are a safe place for many children, mostly because of the leaders who sacrificially give of their lives to invest in the children.

You don’t have to be “up front” in order to invest in a child’s heart. In fact, sometimes it is even a more intimate and safer place, as you sit beside a child and listen intently to their heart. For Sabina in the story from Moldova below, what first began as just being a helper at camp later became a full-on ministry

Today, Sabina is a mentor from behind the scenesHer goal is not to be seen or praised. What matters most to her is to plant seeds of faith in young hearts. She does this through every interaction that she has with them. She helps to quiet their hearts from the chaos of life and bring each child to a place of peace by helping them know God better.

As spring approaches, please continue to pray for all of the SGA-supported ministries. These men and women don’t slow down as one season comes to an end, but instead they begin preparing for the next one to come.

Here is Sabina’s story as shared by SGA Storyteller Tatiana . . .

True leadership is not always about standing on a stage or speaking to many people. Sometimes it means sitting with children, listening to them, smiling, and helping them understand a Bible verse. This is how Sabina, a 22-year-old, shows her heart for God.

Her story started when she was only 16. That year, she helped for the first time at a summer day camp. At the beginning, it was just something new. But very soon, she felt it was more than that. She found joy in seeing children happy and in teaching them that God loves them. Since then, she has returned every year to serve in the camps.

Today, she is more than a helper. She is a mentor, a guide, and like an older sister to the children. Her goal is not to be seen or praised. What matters most to her is to plant seeds of faith in young hearts. She knows that every game, every activity, and every talk is a chance to show God’s love.

In the camps, she has many tasks: leading songs, teaching Bible lessons, organizing games, or just giving a kind word to a child who feels alone. She does everything with care and love.

Why are these day camps important? For her, the answer is simple. They give children time to hear about God and feel His love in a safe and joyful place. In a world full of noise, the camp is a place of peace, truth, and hope. Through her life, Sabina shows us that the greatest gift is to serve others.

We are deeply thankful to Slavic Gospel Association supporters for making the day camps possible and bringing the light of the Gospel to many children.
