Serving God Through Singing

SGA team member Angelina shares in the story below about Inessa, who didn’t give up on her desire to sing for the Lord.  After being told many times before that she should find another ministry, an SGA-supported church in Israel heard her heart instead of her voice. We should all be so ready to let the Lord be heard in our voices. We are thankful to the pastor at this church who allowed a not-so-perfect voice, to be among the bigger choir singing praises to God.

Inessa and her family moved to Israel from Belarus several years ago. Inessa is faithfully serving in a music ministry in her local church. She says:

“I’ve always loved to sing. Singing is an expression of my feelings. As I began to draw closer to God, I began to enjoy singing in church and in Sunday school. But my church in Belarus would never invite me to sing because there was always someone who sang better and more beautifully. But I always had a great desire to sing. There were moments in my life when I was burning with the desire to sing to God, and there were times when I was told that I couldn’t sing. People told me to find another ministry, they would discourage me and tell me that music ministry is not for me. But inside I still had a great desire to serve God with my singing. The Holy Spirit prompted me to this ministry.

When we moved to Israel, I prayed that God would give me a music ministry. We started attending a church in Ashkelon. I was invited to join the worship team there; it was very exciting and joyful for me. God answered my prayer. I thank God that He gave me this chance to serve in the worship group in my local church.  God is growing me spiritually and has changed a lot in me through this ministry. I pray that when people hear my voice, they hear the Lord.”
