A group of churches continues to evacuate people from one of the hardest-hit Ukrainian cities and bring humanitarian aid to the people there.Food and medicine have been brought in from western cities. More than 350,000 people in this city keep hiding in shelters and basements from continuous shelling. In addition to the barrage of shelling in another city, thousands of people are suffering without gas, water, and electricity. One church handed out a glass of sugar, five or six potatoes, half a loaf of bread and 500 grams of grits to everyone who came to this house of worship for assistance. For those who were unable to leave one Ukrainian city, the church has organized a support center. “We bake bread, receive people, distribute food, organized places to stay.”People are leaving this Ukrainian city not only by car, but also by foot across fields. Church members are helping to evacuate people.Another Ukrainian church receives families — often with their pets — and provides shelter for them in the church building, as well as in church members’ homes.Along with the help of partners and friends, 7,000 people were reached by this church. The suffering have been given food, shelter, and help evacuating.Another church bakes 130 pies every day except for Sunday. They deliver them to the nearest road blocks to territorial defense members in their region. One church, started by former drug addicts and alcoholics six years ago, is providing food and shelter to people who have lost their homes. As the former alcoholics and drug addicts pray with and minister to those in need, they have become true heroes of the faith as they preach the Gospel and hope in the Lord.
In a time of great fear and uncertainty, God is bringing help, healing, and hope to the people of Ukraine through SGA-supported pastors, churches, a seminary, and SGA-sponsored Compassion Ministry. Be a part of God’s incredible work with your generosity and prayer support.
Your gift of compassion helps struggling people with emergency aid that generally includes food, medicine, warm clothing, shoes, and Scripture materials.
