Transformation is a beautiful thing! Especially in the life of a new believer. A life once sad and withdrawn is now filled with joy and excitement! True transformation like this is from God alone. It is by His grace, day by day, that a heart changes and becomes more like Him. In becoming more like Him, we see the world through His eyes, making choices that would be pleasing and honoring to His ways. Even to choose life instead of abortion!
Praise God that He doesn’t leave us in our sin and despair, but instead delivers us into freedom and a transformed life. This is where we have the privilege of becoming a living testimony and showing the world what God is like. Please pray for the SGA-supported Orphans Reborn leaders who continue to show the love of Christ and tell orphan children of His saving grace.
From SGA storyteller Angela in Ukraine . . .
For many years, Vasiliy and Ira have faithfully shared God’s Word with orphans and walked alongside them with patience and care. Along the way, they carried a growing burden for another group of vulnerable children in Ukraine—those connected to the country’s social services. Though not living in orphanages, these boys and girls often faced deep hardship, raised by guardians such as aging grandparents struggling with illness and poverty. Yet access to these children remained out of reach. The local director of the social services consistently resisted anything related to the Gospel. But after the war started, God moved and the door opened.
Here is the story of little Mia. What a great testimony to God’s work in the hearts of the orphan graduates who are her parents! The photos are of Mia and her parents attending a small group in Ira and Vasiliy’s home.
A Little Life That Almost Wasn’t: Mia’s Story
When Vasiliy and Ira first met the young woman, she was quiet, guarded, and deeply wounded. Life had not been kind to her—she had moved from one foster home to another, carrying invisible scars of rejection and pain. When she found out she was pregnant, fear and hopelessness consumed her. Abortion seemed the only way out.
But God had other plans.
Vasiliy and Ira began meeting with her regularly—listening, praying, speaking words of hope into her confusion. They talked with her many times. She didn’t believe her life could change, but little by little, God softened her heart.
And then, a miracle. She chose life.
Today, little Mia is five years old. She comes with her mother to the children’s group that Vasiliy and Ira lead. Her laughter fills the room; her bright eyes and tiny hands tell a story that words cannot.
The young mother, once closed and fearful, is now open and full of warmth. God has been transforming her life step by step. And Mia—full of joy, full of life—is a living testimony of that grace.
“Every time we see them,” the couple says, “we’re reminded that God is faithful. That He brings life and transforms.”
Mia’s life is more than a story—it’s a glimpse of redemption. A reminder that no heart is too hard, no story too broken, for God to rewrite.
