Editor’s Note: The following and report and images were provided by an SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine.

Recently Eric Mock, who serves as SGA’s senior vice president of ministry operations, met with SGA-supported Pastor Peter in Ukraine. Peter is grateful for the generous gifts and prayer support from friends like you that help make Immanuel’s Child outreaches possible.

It is a blessing to see how God uses works through these events to touch the hearts of spiritually needy children and families with the Gospel message. Those in Ukraine especially need the hope of Jesus as the war has reached the two-year mark.

As you read what Peter shared below, will you pray for the children whose faces you also see? They are hurting, and their hearts are tired. From Eric . . .

He shared pictures of children from his region. Here children hide from artillery fire coming from across the border. Here they can hear the sounds of nightly rockets overhead. Here they are without their fathers, as they fight in cold and miserable conditions on the front line to protect their families.

As you look at the faces of these children, recognize that Christmas morning brings no joy. The gifts handed to them through Immanuel’s Child—the gift, the Bible and the star—were a blessing, but not enough to revive their tired hearts. Their faces convey that reality of their childhood, which has been stolen from them.

Peter conveyed that there is no “new normal,” for there is no normal. Each day is filled with stress, unsettledness, and a longing for quiet and peace. There is a developing resignation that their lives may never be the same. Peter conveyed his gratefulness for all that SGA does, and asked that we pray for peace in the hearts of many—especially the children.

The need remains.

In a time of great uncertainty, God is bringing help, healing, and hope to the people of Ukraine through SGA-supported pastors, churches, a seminary and SGA-supported Compassion Ministry. Be a part of God’s incredible work with your generosity and prayer support.

Your gift of compassion helps struggling people with emergency aid that generally includes Scripture materials, food, and hygiene supplies.
