Editor’s Note: The images and testimonies below were provided by an SGA-supported pastor in Ukraine.

Teams from SGA-supported churches in a region that is 60 percent occupied continue to deliver aid to Ukrainians in need — and the Gospel is going forth! As you read the stories below of people receiving urgent help, please remember our brothers and sisters in Christ in prayer.

In the areas where these church members are travelling, the fighting is only approximately 24 miles away. They are in harm’s way, but these faithful servants serve a mighty God.

We live in the front-line. We are retired, and live on a pension of $81 per month. We have hard times, as it costs a lot to pay for one trip to the store or pharmacy. The shops and others services do not function in our village due to continued shelling. We have to go to the nearest city for buying groceries and meds. Almost all our funds are being spent on covering utility bills and meds. Since the beginning of the war, food prices have increased considerably. The price on bread alone has been up more than four times. The aid does not come to the war zone often, so we are thankful for any help. We thank you for helping us. The food and hygiene products that they deliver help us save funds, as we do not need to travel to the city for shopping. We are especially worried about the period of cold weather, which will come shortly. We have no idea how we will be able to heat our houses. We are concerned that heating materials will be very expensive in the cold season due to the war.

My family — my husband Vyacheslav and our two children — live in [a village near an occupied region]. Since the beginning of a full-scale war, our village is under on-going shelling. It is very scary to live here now, especially with children. We need to find place to hide from shelling. I work in a grocery store. Every morning I need to get through checkpoints to get to my working place. We thank you for coming to our village with food and hygiene items. The essential foods and hygiene items are required for any family, but especially with children.

My husband and I . . . have been living here all our lives. This is our home place, which is now in distress because of the war. Because we are close to the front line, no businesses work in the village. Getting food from the store is a big problem for us. We thank you for providing a food package and medicines for our family and for delivering them to our village. My husband and I are pleasantly surprised that there are people who help lonely pensioners in such difficult times.

I am a pensioner. [My village] is located in the area of active hostilities. I can see the consequences of the war, as our village is being constantly shelled. I have been working as a math teacher at the local school for 50 years. I continue to work at school # 1 in the village. Together with my colleagues, I am preparing for the next academic year, and we are ready to teach the children online. Unfortunately, shops and pharmacies do not function in our village. My husband recently had a stroke and is now in constant need of medications to maintain his health. I have to go for medicines to as far as [another Ukrainian] city. We spend almost all of our income on medicines. Besides, they have been appreciated in price. Therefore, the help that you brought is a big help for us. Thank you for your help and care!
